Radiesse®:
Radiesse is considered a cosmetic filler. If you are interested in lip
augmentation and facial contouring, but you would like something that
lasts longer than 6 months and less than forever, then Radiesse also
known as Radiesse "FN", may be for you. A calcium hydroxyapatite
injectable, Radiesse is currently FDA approved for vocal cord injection
and as a tissue marker. It is pending FDA approval for lip augmentation.
Radiesse is a biocompatible product, which consists of calcium hydroxyapatate micro spheres
in a gel carrier. Radiesse injections last a year or more. Radiesse does not require skin testing because it is the same
mineral component as bone and teeth.
It works especially well for the nasolabial groove the groove that runs
from either side of the nose to the corners of the mouth) and for oral
grooves (the groove that runs from each corner of the mouth to the
chin). Typically, the patient who has never had their lips augmented before might opt for
something less permanent such as collagen or Restylane (hyaluronic
acid).
For those who are confident of the look they want, then Radiesse
may be just the ticket. You may need a block to put it into lips and at least
a topical for NL folds.
Restylane®:
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic
dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct
facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane
is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance
that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane
is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized
Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic
acid. Restylane maintains its shape
using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane
is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually
degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same
volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of
hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.
Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane
is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based
disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal
proteins. Restylane is a crystal-clear, biodegradable NASHA (Non-Animal
Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) gel, which is injected into the dermis
in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous,
producing a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to
the skin. Needs a block to put it into lips and at least a topical for NL folds.
How a Wrinkle Occurs:
As we age, the hyaluronic acid in the skin diminishes as cells lose
their ability to produce it. As a result, the skin becomes drier,
thinner and less able to restore itself after squeezing or indentation.
The loss of skin fullness also means that the skin becomes looser. All
in all, these factors lead to wrinkling and an older appearance of the
skin.
Smoothing Wrinkles:
Smoothing out folds and wrinkles by adding volume can make an enormous
difference to a patient’s appearance and sometimes make them look
several years younger.
You can offer facial rejuvenation
without the use of foreign elements. For
the treatment of wrinkles or folds,
fillers are injected into the skin
in small amounts with a very fine needle. The injected
filler gives natural
volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. The
results can be seen immediately. Treating wrinkles is
fast and safe, and leaves no scars or other traces on the face.
For Lips:
For many women, a fuller, more sensual mouth comes high on their wish
list.
You can
get a more pronounced mouth or a soft
pouting look using the body’s own material. Lip augmentation is
usually carried out in two steps – pouting and contouring. To create a
more pronounced mouth and fuller lips,
fillers are injected into the
upper and/or lower lip. This is often combined with the marking of the
vermilion border by injecting the gel along the lip line. Redefining
this edge leads to a more youthful and appealing look. The philtrum
ridges can be defined by injecting the gel into the lines. To achieve
the optimal result, a combination of these steps is often used.
Shaping Facial Contours:
Many people are looking for a slightly fuller shape for their chin. Just
a touch of additional volume can make an enormous difference, giving the
